It means professional futon makers certified by the Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry. The 1st grade and 2nd grade certificates can be obtained by skill level. It requires to take an exam which consists of academic subjects and practical skills. The questions about the method for manufacturing futons, materials, the general bedding goods, and safety matters are supposed to be on the academic exam. The assignments to make a kaimaki for the 1st grade and a kake-buton for the 2nd grade are supposed to be on the exam for practical skills. The exam takes place twice a year at designated places nationwide. The certificates are displayed in the futon shops where those who passed the exam work.
