What is Supima cotton fabric?
Superior Pima, or Supima cotton for short, is a high-grade Pima cotton that meets the strict quality standards set by the American Supima Cotton Association.
Superior Pima is a rare cotton that can only be found in the hot and dry states of California, Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico, and accounts for less than 1% of all cotton grown in the world.
This satin weave fabric is characterized by its beautiful luster and smooth texture.
The weight of a this fabric for a single long size mattress is approximately 600g, which is 35% lighter than a standard cotton broadcloth, and its good drape makes it fit to the skin as if it is absorbed.

 

 

 

 

Small white cotton is visible at some of the bindings and hand-sewn part.
When the threads are pulled out while making, the cotton fibers get entangled and come out to the surface.
This is not a defective product with holes. This is easily visible because this fabric is black.

Organic Cotton Filling

We directly import cotton from the Murata Group in Gujarat, India's largest cotton-producing region.

We use non-genetically modified, native varieties of cotton. In the clothing industry, long-fiber cotton, which is more comfortable to wear as clothing, is preferred and is being bred, but the cotton needed for futons is a native species. The characteristic of this cotton is its fiber thickness, which provides strong support, making it an ideal variety for use in mattresses. It is certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), one of the world’s most reliable organic certifications.

GOTS certification is not only about ensuring that the raw fibers are organic; it also guarantees that all processes—from harvesting, processing, manufacturing, to distribution—are conducted in environmentally and socially responsible ways, with measures in place to prevent contamination or mixing with non-organic products.

Below are the initiatives of Murata Group’s contract farmers, who comply with GOTS regulations and receive advice from CB:

• Soil Management: Using only organic fertilizers and crop rotation and avoiding synthetic inputs.
• Pest and Weed Management: Implementing IPM practices; using mechanical and biological methods.
• Seeds and Planting Material: Using only organic, non-GMO seeds.
• Water Management: Conserving water, ensuring clean irrigation sources and storage and reuse of water in Monsoons
• Post-Harvest Handling: Preventing contamination with non-organic products and practices
• Environmental Sustainability: Reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable land use.
• Social Responsibility: Following fair labor practices and ensuring worker well-being.
• Regular Inspections: Complying with regular inspections by the certifying body.

To select the correct futon size

Please note that what we show on our site is the size of the futon fabric. If it is filled with cotton, it will be about 4 inches (10 cm) shorter in length and width.

 

Example : Futon Mattress - Single 78” x 39” (200 x 100 cm) will be 74" x 35" (190 x 90 cm) when you receive.

If you are planning to place the futon mattress on your bed, and want to fit them perfectly, please be aware of it and select carefully.

Thickness

 

Shiki Futon (Futon Mattress) at the time of delivery is very fluffy and voluminous, measuring over 4” (10 cm) in the thickest center position but after about one week of usage the fluffiness will begin to settle, and the mattress will transform into a stiffer, denser futon. After about two to three months of use, the cotton padding becomes even thinner (more constricted) and the futon will become about half of its original thickness. Although the volume decreases, the cotton fiber's "support features" become activated and the futon becomes a mattress that will support your proper sleeping posture.

We source quality raw cotton from India. Classic, heavy-duty machines, which have been used for over three generations, get rid of cotton chips and make the cotton suitable as futon filling. We sterilize cotton by heat. We don't use any chemical material in any of our processes.

Many kinds of cotton fabrics are in stock to meet customers’ various demands. Our skilled artisans finish more than 15 futon mattresses per day when it‘s busy. The products are then shipped to the world from our office on the lower floor of the factory. Our making process is minimal and productive at the same time. We can cut the costs of the middleman and transportation. That’s why we can offer quality products at a fair price.
