About This Kotatsu Futon Quilt

This kotatsu futon quilt features an Asanoha sashiko printed pattern, inspired by a traditional Japanese hemp-leaf motif.

The filling is 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, giving the quilt a soft and full feel around the kotatsu table.

Please use it with your favorite kotatsu cover, or as a simple kotatsu quilt on its own.

Size

The listed size is the fabric size before the cotton filling is added. The finished size may become slightly smaller because of the thickness and volume of the cotton filling.

Size Fabric Size
Square 205 × 205 cm (80.7 × 80.7 in)
Rectangle 245 × 205 cm (96.5 × 80.7 in)
Large Rectangle 315 × 205 cm (124.0 × 80.7 in)

All measurements are approximate.

Kotatsu Table Size Guide

As a general guide, choose a kotatsu futon quilt that is about 110–130 cm (43.3–51.2 in) larger than the tabletop in both length and width.

This gives about 55–65 cm (21.7–25.6 in) of overhang on each side, allowing the quilt to drape comfortably around the table.

Many kotatsu tables today are taller than traditional styles. If your kotatsu table is higher than about 40 cm (15.4 in), we recommend choosing a larger futon for a more comfortable drape.

Kotatsu Futon Quilt Size Approx. Kotatsu Table Frame Size
205 × 205 cm (80.7 × 80.7 in) Width: 80–90 cm (31.5–35.4 in)
Depth: 80–90 cm (31.5–35.4 in)
245 × 205 cm (96.5 × 80.7 in) Width: 120–130 cm (47.2–51.2 in)
Depth: 80–90 cm (31.5–35.4 in)
315 × 205 cm (124.0 × 80.7 in) Width: 135–180 cm (53.1–70.9 in)
Depth: 90–135 cm (35.4–53.1 in)

For the kotatsu futon cover, choose the same size as your kotatsu futon quilt, or a cover that is up to about 5 cm (2.0 in) larger.

Materials

  • Outer fabric: Asanoha sashiko printed fabric
  • Filling: 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton

Organic Cotton from India

Cotton batting is a natural fiber with excellent resilience.

With regular care—such as sun-drying on clear days—the absorbed sweat from sleep and indoor moisture evaporate, allowing the futon to regain its fluffiness and ensuring a comfortable sleep.

We use GOTS-certified Desi cotton sourced from India, the world's largest producer of organic cotton. The region's abundant sunshine and ideal growing conditions produce high-quality cotton known for its natural softness, durability, and moisture-absorbing properties.

How to Choose the Size

As a general guide, choose a kotatsu futon quilt that is about 110–130 cm (43.3–51.2 in) larger than the tabletop in both length and width.

This gives about 55–65 cm (21.7–25.6 in) of overhang on each side, allowing the quilt to drape comfortably around the table.

Many kotatsu tables today are taller than traditional styles. If your kotatsu table is higher than about 40 cm (15.4 in), we recommend choosing a larger futon for a more comfortable drape.

For the kotatsu futon cover, choose the same size as your kotatsu futon quilt, or a cover that is up to about 5 cm (2.0 in) larger.

From Raw Cotton to Futon Filling

We directly import high-quality organic cotton from India and process it in our own factory in Japan.

Today, very few futon manufacturers in Japan still maintain their own cotton-processing equipment. Having complete control over this stage allows us to carefully monitor quality throughout the entire production process.

Raw cotton arrives compressed and contains natural impurities such as leaf fragments and seed particles. Before use, the cotton is thoroughly opened, cleaned, and prepared using traditional cotton-processing machinery.

The cotton is then carded, aligning the fibers and removing fibers that do not meet our standards. This process transforms the cotton into soft, airy sheets ready for use as premium futon filling.

All manufacturing processes are done in house

We source high-quality raw cotton from India. Classic, heavy-duty machines that have been used for over three generations remove cotton debris and prepare the cotton for use as futon filling. We sterilize the cotton using heat and do not use any chemicals in any of our processes.

We keep a wide variety of cotton fabrics in stock to meet our customers' diverse needs. During busy periods, our skilled artisans produce more than 15 futon mattresses per day. The finished products are then shipped worldwide from our office on the lower floor of the factory.

Our manufacturing process is both streamlined and efficient. By minimizing intermediaries and transportation costs, we are able to offer high-quality products at fair prices.

Clean and Natural Materials

We believe the materials closest to your body should be as natural as possible.

Our cotton filling contains no:

  • Insecticides
  • Toxic solvents
  • Flame retardants
  • Hormone-disrupting chemicals

We use heat treatment and mechanical processing rather than chemical treatments whenever possible, preserving the natural qualities of the cotton while ensuring a clean and comfortable product.

Care for 100% Cotton Filling

• Do not wash with water at home.
• Air regularly in a dry, well-ventilated place.
• On clear, dry days, air the item outdoors to help release moisture from the cotton filling.
• If outdoor airing is not possible, place it in a well-ventilated room and use a fan or dehumidifier if needed.
• If the outer fabric becomes dirty, gently spot clean the affected area and allow it to dry completely.
• Store only when completely dry, in a well-ventilated place.
• Cotton naturally settles and becomes firmer with use. This is a normal characteristic of cotton-filled bedding.

This is a wonderful fluffy and thick Kotatsu blanket. It's keeping the heat good at the place and has a good touch. I really love it and would buy another. With the blanket comes a good cleaning instruction in english and a cute paper crane. You can totally feel the good craftmanship and quality when using this blanket. For the table I used an Ikea table and a normal heater under it. It's working well together with the sizes and I'm more than happy. The customer service is top note too! My package was missing for more than 2 weeks duo to postal problems and the seller Mori was doing his best to support my search and is very nice.
