Rinzai Zen is one of the major Zen schools along with Soto Zen.
To do zazen, place the folds of the large zabuton in the front and place your hip on the small zabuton.
They are fluffy at first, but as it is used, the cotton compresses to provide a stable position.
It is large and can be used for a variety of purposes.
All dimensions listed are flat dimensions.
A flat dimension refers to the zabuton’s width and length while lying flat and unstuffed. The measurements are taken from seam to seam.
When stuffed, the volume of the cotton will cause the zabuton to expand, making its finished dimensions when delivered approximately 3.9 inches (10cm) shorter in each direction when compared to the flat dimensions.
By decreasing the amount of stuffing in the zabuton, its dimensions will become closer to that of the flat dimensions.
At the time of delivery, the volume of the cotton stuffing gives the zabuton a height of approximately 1.9 – 3.9 inches (5 – 10cm). With use, this will reduce to about 1.2 – 1.9 inches (3 – 5cm).
