Shishimai (lion dance) is a folk art performed during New Year’s and festivals, in which dancers wear a headdress called a shishimai (lion’s head).
It is usually performed on New Year’s Day, but it is also popularly performed on auspicious and happy occasions.
This small hanging scroll is made in a very elaborate process. It would be a nice addition to a restaurant or guest room.
