“Bunaco” is a product brand started to make effective use of beech trees in Aomori Prefecture, which boasts the largest accumulation of beech trees in Japan. The Shirakami Mountains, known as a World Heritage site, is famous for having the world’s largest virgin beech forest.
Beech wood has been considered unsuitable for furniture and building materials because of its high water content and tendency to go out of shape. By developing a manufacturing method to shape beech wood by stripping and coiling it, they have succeeded in creating a three-dimensional shape, which is difficult to achieve with solid wood.
The name “beech + coil” comes from this manufacturing method of coiling beech wood tape. The company is expanding into a wide range of fields, from household goods and lighting to custom-made products, not only from the practical aspect of minimizing splits and distortions, but also because it can create unique products without wasting wood resources.
Please note that some tissue boxes on the market cannot be stored.
Since natural beech wood is used, the color may vary from piece to piece.
