This beckoning cat is made of Kimono fabric and traditional Japanese art doll called Kimekomi craftsmanship.
Strongly recommended for Shinobi fans,  Maneki Neko fans, and anyone looking for a special cat object or feng shui(風水).

TOKO KAKINUMA ,the workshop is located in Saitama Prefecture.
Each piece is handmade by craftsmen.
The elegant texture is different from mass-produced ones, and it will become your friend that will warm up your room.

"Lucky Cat" has been loved by many Japanese people since the ancient times, as a good luck ornament that brings luck and prosperous business.
The cats with their right paw up are said to bring in people(customers).

Traditional Japanese art doll  studio  'Toko Kakinuma's  Manekineko'  has many fans not only in Japan but also all over the world.

    

 Toko's doll is very elaborate, using traditional Japanese doll-making techniques.
Therefore, the sword on his back can be pulled out of its sheath.

Swarovski crystals are used for the eyes.
The bell and body are made of silk as well as printed fabrics that were not commonly used for kimekomi.

For that reason, Kimekomi art doll craftman,

What's "Edo Kimekomi "?

In order to preserve the tradition of Edo Kimekomi Dolls, there are detailed rules on materials and techniques to be used.
Kimekomi’ is the method of inserting cloths into the carved lines with special tools, traditionally onto a mold wood, in order to dress the dolls.
‘Edo Kimekomi Doll’ is designated as "Traditional Crafts" by the Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

About 260 years ago left over clothes from costumes of Shinto shrine or festival were used for Kimekomi, which is counted as the beginning,
and afterwards, clay models was introduced to Edo and that enabled to from the doll's shape more freely.

Born in Arakawa-Ku, Tokyo in 1948.
Traditional craftsman certified by Minister of Economy, Trade and Industory
Traditional craftsman certified by the Governor of Tokyo.
Always enjoyed making dolls since childhood, I started to learn under my father, "the first Toko Kakinuma" in 1974,
and has been devoting myself to Edo "Kimekomi" doll ever since.
Using the techniques such as mother-of-pearl, inlay, coloring nikoromo overlap, he is also working on the new style of dolls
and keeps creating the dolls that are out of box and looking at the modern age.

Over the years, this master craftsman has received numerous awards for his skill and craftsmanship.
