A temari ball was a toy designed for a female infant, so the temari pattern was often used for children’s kimono. In some cases, there are elaborate temari patterns, which all of temari balls are depicted with different kinds of patterns. The pattern with toy motif is called ‘ganguzukushi.’ Some of the toy motif patterns are composed of a whistle and a top, or composed of various toys for male infants.
