Ozabu means zabuton in the Kyoto and Osaka dialects. Although there are practices of attaching the prefix ‘o’ to certain nouns to show politeness, ozabu is a unique expression used in the Senba area (current Chuo Ward in Osaka City) as ‘Senba kotoba’ and it is also said to be first introduced from a Kyoto-born person.

※Senba-kotoba: Those are unique expressions spoken by the merchants during the Edo period in Senba, Osaka, which was a once-flourishing merchant town. Nowadays, Senba is famous as a textile wholesale district.
