It is an Extra-long Staple cotton which generally has a staple of at least 1 3/8″ or longer. Sea Island Cotton produced in Caribbean Barbados, Antigua, Nevis, Jamaica and Belize, or Pima cotton produced in Peru are well known as the ELS cotton. The cotton is soft to the touch and smooth so it is used for high-grade hane-buton (feather comforter).
