Chirimen

It is a fabric characterized by a crinkled surface with highly twisted yarns in the weft and made with a plain weave. Also, the crepe surface is obtained through chemical processing, which the woven fabric is boiled in the liquid containing soap and soda for a couple of hours.

The fabric is often used for kimono due to its soft and smooth texture and its properties which dyes well.

There are well-known chirimen fabrics such as Tango-chirimen or Hama-chirimen.

Also, Kohama-chirimen or Hitokoshi-chirimen is famous for its light crinkled appearance.
