It’s a Japanese-style lamp which consists of a box-shape or ball-shape frame covered with Japanese paper and a luminous object like a light bulb. There is a wide variety of andon lamps ranging from the big one placed outside to the bedside lamp used for indirect lighting. The andon can be still often seen in the bedrooms in the traditional Japanese Inn. A Japanese paper lamp shade is common but a frosted glass lamp shade can be also seen.
